The City of Bessemer’s Industrial Development Board fosters local economic growth by attracting and retaining light industrial, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution and transportation businesses, encouraging redevelopment and fostering innovation. ABOUT BESSEMER
Located in southwest Jefferson County, Bessemer, Alabama offers competitive tax incentives, affordable commercial property and acreage, workforce training and a low cost of living to businesses located in and relocating to the area. While Bessemer is a small city of slightly over 27,000 people, it offers many of the same amenities as a larger city. Some of those amenities include access to air transportation (Bessemer National Airport), a highway and Interstate convergence, direct rail access and independent County (Jefferson) Courthouse.
The City of Bessemer also offers post high school educational opportunities consisting of Lawson State Community College (formerly Bessemer State Technical College).
Bessemer, Alabama is bordered by the cities of Birmingham (NE), Hoover (SE) and Fairfield (E), Alabama.
